This summer, The Foundry will be the spot for the best jazz concerts. The Foundry is inside the SLS Casino. It is located n the north end of the Strip, inhabiting the old Sahara location. If you have never been inside the SLS, they totally remodeled it, and you would never know it was the Sahara hotel.
Last year, Aliante Casino was the summer spot for the jazz shows. The people behind those shows have moved over to The Foundry, so this will be the hotspot until further notice.
The venue is pretty new, so they have the newest show technology, including cutting edge lighting, graphic production, and more. The Foundry has a 2,000 person capacity, so it is the perfect size for these types of concerts. I mean, you want to be close to the artists, right?
Here is The Foundry Las Vegas 2017 Concert Lineup:
One of the most innovative jazz artists of our time will make a rare US appearance in 2017 (11 dates) and luckily, Las Vegas is one of them. She is out on the road supporting her new album, Together. If you have never heard her music, let’s put it this way: She loves to experiment with different sounds, and thebecause of this, the music is unique and cutting edge. Don’t worry, she always keeps the funk!
West Coast Jam consists of Richard Elliot, Rick Braun and Norman Brown. All three have new albums, and all three are at the top of their game right now.
Dave Koz likes to tour with other big name artists. Last year, Koz and David Sanborn performed a string of dates together. This year is is Larry Graham. Graham is one of the masters of the bass, and I am sure this show will be big. As you can see, they have TWO dates scheduled, so The Foundry also thinks that it will be big.
If piano is your thing, then Brian Culbertson is the show you want to attend. Culbertson is one of the premier artists on the scene, and he usually keeps a packed performance schedule. His band is really tight, and the live performances are second to none. He also produces his wildly popular Napa Valley Jazz Getaway.
Jonathan Butler is my favorite guitarist of all time. You can hear his South African rootsin his music, and that sets him apart from all of the other artists. He is also a singer, and he has several vocalslow jams that will top anyone’s list.
What can you say about Mindi Abair? She can play that horn, and she has a wide array of stylings. Pop, R & B, Rock, and she can also break down the slow songs. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith saw her perform, and immediately enlisted her for their world tour. She will have the Boneshakers with her, so this will be a high-energy show.
Boney James is THE saxman as far as I am concerned. His style just oozes that cool vibe. He usually stays in that mid-tempo range, and he has a command of that horn. His latest album, Futuresoul has a number of hits that I am sure you are familiar with.
